Akapellamunda

We are a Choir based in the hills, in Kalamunda, about 20km East of Perth, in Western Australia.
We sing as unaccompanied voices, with a repertoire spanning the traditional, some modern, and quite a bit of what gets called World Music.
We are a social bunch, we don't hold auditions, and we often sing for chariatable events.

A 20 voice women's choir singing mostly classical repertoire, but including some folk and music theatre. Music in 2, 3 and 4 parts. The choir (formerly the Fremantle Choir) has a committment to providing vocal and musical education, and to setting a high standard for performance, in an environment of fun, support and friendship.An ongoing beginner's group is available, as well as regular community workshops.

Joining Requirements: GALSWA meet every Thursday at 7.00pm to join in glorious chorus at the North Perth Lesser Hall, new members are always welcome, there are no auditions so we have a wide variety of choral skills in the choir.

Harmony

Harmony began as a community choir in the small town of Paraburdoo in 1991. From 6 members it grew fairly quickly and has been very active over the years. We have performed many concerts and won a variety of divisions in the Port Hedland and Wanneroo Eisteddfods. As people relocated to Perth, the choir was re-established in Perth city in early 1997. Membership is currently 35, a mix of men and women, ages range from 22 - 70. Repertoire includes music in unison, SAB, SATB, with occasional SSAA pieces for ladies. We perform Sacred, Musical Theatre, Classics, Folk and contemporary

Joining Requirements: Anyone wishing to join our choir is required to hold a part and sing in tune. Sight singing ability is an advantage, but not necessary - you will learn sight singing as part of the group's activities. All prospective members will be auditioned after 3 weeks. The Malcolm Sargent Festival Choir, WA

Invited auditioned Choir whose proceeds go to The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children,WA. Choral experience and ability to read music essential. No membership fee. Choristers only perform if they can attend all stated rehearsal times as organised specifically for each concert. 3 concerts a year. Classical choral music, traditional music, folk songs. Nightingale Chorale

Formed in 1997, it was a humble beginning with only 4 members. The choir now has 35 singers.A mixed choir, the Choristers come from the Upper Great Southern of Western Australia. Some singers travel over 150 Km to rehearsal every week, Based in Narrogin, the choir meets in the little town of Wickepin. The repertoire is varied, however,the Nightingales are best known for their Spirituals and Blues.

Perth Philharmonic Choir

The Choir is a small friendly group of singers who get together because they enjoy singing in harmony, i.e. traditional four part SATB songs. The Perth Undergraduate Choral Society caters for UWA students as well as members of the community and performs a wide variety of music. Summa Musica Chamber Choir

Summa Musica was formed in 1995 to present little known, yet significant unaccompanied choral repertoire chiefly from the Late Renaissance,particularly the music of Holy Week.
In addition it has presented many Australia premieres of works from all periods including Gesualdo, Victoria, Lotti, Haydn, Richard Strauss, Naji Hakim and Einojuhani Rautavaara.
The choir has broadcast and recorded for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Many of its performances are available on CD.

WASO Chorus

The WASO Chorus support the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in major symphonic choral concerts. It is auditioned and rehearsed on a project basis and currently boasts 190 auditioned members.
Recent Performances include Carmina Burana conducted by Vladimir Verbitsky, Mahler Symphony No 2 conducted by Matthias Bamert, Beethoven Symphony No 9 conducted by Vladimir Verbitsky and Mozart Requiem conducted by Matthias Bamert.

Joining Requirements: Auditions take place on a project by project basis. The requirement is to prepare a song of your choice (preferably classical) and provide two copies of the piano accompaniment. WASO provide a pianist. The audition will take about 5 minutes and will include some sight singing.

Vocal Evolution
Conductor: Gina D'Souza
Leading Perth male A Cappella chorus, affiliated with the Australian Association of Men Barbershop Singers (AAMBS). Current Australian national silver medal chorus, with right to represent Australia at World Championships in either 2008 or 2009.
The chorus currently consists of about 30 singers, and the repertoire spans music from the 1920's to the Beach Boys, all performed "a cappella" (unaccompanied) in a highly entertaining way. This group does not stand and sing from written music. They "perform" the music in a most creative and entertaining way.

Joining Requirements: Contact Ian Mulholland (President) on 0418-956-492. Rehearsals are held at the Summerlakes Centre, corner Action and Enterprise Rds, Malaga, at 7pm on Monday nights.
No specific joining requirements or skills and abilities, however each prospective member will need to pass a number of simple audtion steps to be able to perform publicly with the chorus. Obviously the basic requirements are an ability to sing in tune, hold your part, and enjoy performing.
